WA5DM Award

Our Very own WA5DM, Chris Overbey, was presented with the ARRL Amateur Radio Service to Scouting Award last night by North Texas Section Manager, W5GM, Jay Urish, with K5ND, Jim Wilson, along to celebrate at the April Ellis County Amateur Radio Club meeting.

KE6LOU

Silent Key KE6LOU

It has just come to our attention that Richard Bartlett KE6LOU,  who was a member of the Irving Amateur Radio Club, passed away on November 17th, 2017. Richard was very active in public service with bike rallies and support with area metroplex ham clubs' events. His infectious smile and laugh always picked you up at zero dark thirty before the event started no matter what. I’ve never seen his face without a smile, or turn away from a “just starting out volunteer” who had questions. He loved to mentor new hams in the art of public service and volunteer work.

Richard was born on May 13, 1964 and passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017. Richard was a resident of Lamesa, Texas at the time of passing. Richard graduated from Lamesa High School in 1982 and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Angelo State University in 1987.

You’ll be greatly missed Richard...73

The Ellis County Amateur Radio Club invites all new licensees an old alike, join us on Wednesday evening at 8pm for our Tech Net.  This net is to promote new licensees in getting on the air and asking questions about their equipment or ham radio in general.  No need to be shy, we are here to answer your questions and get you familiar with getting on the air talking.  If you don't have a tech question for the net, then just check in and join the conversation.

This is note worthy as this photo was taken while we were attending Dayton 2017 and just happened to be at the K2BSA booth talking with Jim, K5ND (pictured on the right) and Brian (pictured in the middle) about K2BSA being recognized by the CW Ops Club for its service to Scouting and the promotion of Morse Code within Scouting.  Please jump and read both articles and see our very own Chris Overbey, WA5DM at the K2BSA booth during Dayton 2017.
